ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - A wide variety of bids may be considered when The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel is sold at a bankruptcy auction next week. Michael Sirota, an attorney representing the casino, said qualified bids must offer enough to satisfy post-bankruptcy financing of between $9 million to $15 million, and include a $4 million deposit. The auction is scheduled for Tuesday.
NEW YORK (AP) - John Wiley & Sons says its fiscal second-quarter net income declined 16 percent, hindered by some charges. For the period ended October 31st, the publisher earned $36.2 million, or 61 cents per share. That compares with $43.1 million, or 71 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue for the Hoboken company increased 4 percent to $449.2 million from $431.8 million.
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Organizations and advocates on all sides of the online gambling debate are cheering a Congressional hearing on the state of online gambling. The hearing took place yesterday before the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade. Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware have legalized some kind of online gambling, and legislatures in other states are weighing the issue.
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Atlantic City's casino revenue increased by more than 27 percent in November. But the gains were only because Superstorm Sandy forced the casinos to close for nearly a week last November. The 12 casinos won $224.7 million last month, compared to $176.6 million in November 2012 when the storm closed the casinos for most of the first week of the month.
