BEDMINSTER, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a Saratoga Springs couple escaped injury when their small plane overturned while landing at a northern New Jersey airport. Police tell NJ.com that the accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. yesterday at the Somerset Airport. The pilot, Richard Skevington, and his wife, Mary Skevington, had exited the plane before officers arrived on scene.
LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) - An archaeological dig at a French and Indian War battleground in the southern Adirondacks has been given the green light. Archaeologist David Starbuck says he has received permission from state officials to conduct excavations this summer in an area of Lake George Battlefield Park.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A new canal-themed water attraction is taking shape in Buffalo. The Buffalo News reports that replica canals were being test-filled this past week at Canalside. The $20.5 million project is scheduled to be completed by this fall. The canals will serve as reflecting pools in the summer and skating rinks in the winter.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A pair of peregrine falcons is back at a nest box on Syracuse's 23-story State Tower Building. A member of group of local bird lovers that keeps track of the nest told the Post-Standard of Syracuse that they are convinced there are eggs in the nest box. Susan Wrisley believes the baby falcons will be born right around Mother's Day and will probably be flying around Father's Day.
