INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER

WNYW/WWOR, the FOX O&O in New York seeks an Information Systems Manager. This position assists FTS personnel with technical support of desktop computers, servers, network, applications, and related technology used to operate the station. Support includes specification, installation, and repair of computer systems and peripherals within established FTS standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with station personnel as well as with other members of the FTS IT team to define requirements and deliver against project and support goals. The position provides one-on-one consultancy to end users as required. The employee in this position also assists in the maintenance and testing of network, servers and associated equipment. The position’s responsibilities require independent analyses, effective communication and problem solving skills. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and good judgment. 
Responsibilities: 
-    Installation, configuration, and ongoing support of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines. 
-    Work with vendors to resolve technical problems as necessary. 
-    Work with others in IT and Engineering as appropriate to determine and resolve problems and/or meeting project objectives. 
-    Work with numerous hardware, software and network products in a multi-layered distributed computing environment. 
-    Enforces company policies regarding security, privacy, and data loss prevention. 
-    Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated file servers, email servers, Internet, news management, broadcast servers and business systems. 
-    Orient staff on use of hardware and software as needed. 
-    Recommends and performs upgrades on systems to ensure reliability, performance and longevity.
-    Assist with the procurement of hardware and software. 
-    Maintain LAN / Wi-Fi infrastructure with general guidance. 
-    Maintain records, audits trails, and documentation to support policy and procedure and contribute to the general operating efficiency of the job. 
-    Assist in the ordering and configuration of wireless devices within defined standards. 
-    Develop procedures and/or processes to manage workload. 
-    Participate in corporate governance programs as required by policy. 
-    Manage support and deployment of telecom infrastructure. 

Skills Required: 
In depth technical familiarity on the deployment, support and effective use of standard technologies including, but not limited to: 

Technical: 
-    Microsoft Window 7 &10  and MS Office 2016 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) 
-    Systems and components for workstations and laptop computers. 
-    Windows File Servers (2008 and 2012) 
-    Backup software (Netbackup, Backup-Exec, etc) 
-    Network printers, fax machines, scanners, and multi-function-devices. 
-    Diagnostic tools for PC’s and networks. 
-    Ethernet and TCP/IP (Cisco Switches and routers) 
-    DHCP and DNS 
-    Principles of firewalls, NAC Appliances, and End-point protection software 
-    Newsroom systems desirable (Avid, Grass Valley, BitCentral) 
-    PBX / VOIP 
-    Virus and Malware remediation tools 
-    Virtualization (VMWare 6.5) , SAN Storage (HP and Netapp)

-    Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. 
-    Able to prioritize work with minimal supervision 
-    Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing 
-    Good interpersonal skills.

FREELANCE WEB PRODUCER

Description

Work closely with Editorial team to conceptualize/produce high profile creative on-line material; perform duties of on-line writer/producer, specializing in print style writing, copy editing and editorial gathering; facilitate the editorial gathering of local web news, gleaning information from various sources and contacts and reproducing the above material into strong compelling web material; interface with Editorial managers and supervisors from the Broadcasting side of newsroom to create a cohesive working atmosphere, managing the delivery of content using new distribution platforms; produce and post to the station’s various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus 1-3 years of web production experience; solid understanding of web standards, design and usability; knowledge of common web and application architectures; knowledge of print and broadcast newsroom standards and styles; understanding of user on-line behavior; knowledge of internet publishing software and content management systems; position demands excellent print/web writing, web editing, and web production skills; handle multiple demands and competing priorities simultaneously in a strict deadline-oriented environment; excellent communication skills; ability to work under pressure as a cohesive member of a team; knowledge of Photoshop.

NEWS ASSISTANT (NY)

The individual will be responsible for coordinating clips between writers, producers and editors for packages and show teases; will assemble scripts for anchors; assist assignment desk with news-gathering; research news archives for footage requests and b-roll; other duties as assigned. Candidate must have 1-3 years prior major market experience in a TV newsroom; must know how to desktop edit, search archives and coordinate video edits with editors and producers. Great attitude and organizational skills required; assignment editor experience and story set-up experience required; must be exceptional team player; ability to work well under pressure; must be flexible with hours and days.

COMMERCIAL LOG EDITOR/TRAFFIC ASSISTANT

Edit/handle daily logs by placing commercials in appropriate place on logs based on client and contract specifications; work displaced spots to ensure spots are booked in correct shows; manage weekly inventory, oversell, displaced spots, late orders and day of airs; help update skim reports daily to reflect actual available inventory; proof daily air logs for commercial conflicts. Must be able to work with detail and deadlines; ability to communicate and articulate with upper management. College degree preferred; Wide Orbit experience a plus.

NEWS VIDEOGRAPHER/EDITOR (2 positions)

Photograph and edit news stories, special events and microwave live shots as assigned by the News department; operate ENG cameras and editing equipment (linear and non-linear); operate ENG microwave live van, setting up live shots for news and special events; operate station owned vehicles, two-way radio system in station vehicles, microwave and satellite transmitters and receivers for the transmission of news stories; understand the use of lighting, photographic, audio and editing techniques as required in news production. Candidates must have 2-3 years’ experience in #1 market as a news videographer/editor covering breaking news, operating Microwave and SAT Live Trucks, and have the ability to tell the story in pictures; feature experience, lighting skills, and non-linear editing ability required; college degree or equivalent in journalism or broadcast production; knowledge of basic journalism and production techniques required; familiar with the operation of Panasonic P2 Camera Systems and Avid Non-linear equipment. Candidates must have a proven record of dependability and good judgment in breaking news situations and the ability to consistently meet deadlines; must be a team player and possess skills to work as a cohesive member of department; ability to lift heavy equipment and climb stairs; driver’s license required.

EDITOR

Edit news stories, special events, and sports as assigned by the News Department; must be fully Avid ready; must be able to operate a routing switcher for the purpose of recording various
sources (i.e.: server outputs, graphics, internet, etc.). College degree or equivalent in journalism or broadcasting; minimum of three years’ experience as an editor in a major market;
knowledge of journalism and production techniques; proven record of dependability, good judgement and decision making skills and the ability to consistently meet stringent deadlines; must
be a team player and possess skills to work as a cohesive member of department.

BROADCAST MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

WNYW/WWOR is seeking a skilled Broadcast Maintenance Engineer to perform daily preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem solving of all equipment associated with a 24/7/365 television operation in a major market. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintenance of automated Master Control systems, Studio, Automated Production Control Rooms Systems, Camera Control Systems, Robotic cameras, Remote Production ENG equipment, Post Production, Newsroom Video Playback and Archive solutions, ENG/SNG operations, NAS systems, Non Linear edit systems and Satellite distribution systems; assist in system design, construction and commissioning of new technologies at the Studio, Transmitter, and Remote Facilities. Candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience in TV Engineering which must include a strong IT background; a B.S. degree with an emphasis in Engineering or IT is preferred; must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in addition to being able to work closely with all station staff in a team environment; must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Description: Fox Television Stations is looking for an intern to support its Corporate Communications department, which is responsible for directing communications for the 28 owned-and-operated FOX stations, MyNetworkTV and the first-run syndication division, Twentieth Television.  Individuals applying for this position should be Public Relations, or Communications majors with excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in drafting basic public relations materials (i.e., press releases, media alerts, pitch letters), as well as excellent organization and time management skills.  Please note that we are looking for a self-starter with a desire to work in a high-intensity but rewarding work environment.

Requirements:  Must be a college Junior or Senior, be available 3 full consistent days per week for 10-12 weeks, and able to receive college credit for participation in the internship.

FOX Television Stations, FOX 5/WNYW and MY 9/WWOR offers a hands on six month training program for College Graduates interested in obtaining valuable experience in the various fields of Television Broadcasting. This training program requires no previous broadcast work experience, thereby, when the six-months training period is completed, the goal is to provide the trainee with the prerequisite skills to acquire an entry-level position in the broadcasting field.
