Hit and run investigation underway

Tom Adams is hanging posters in stores all over Jefferson.

"I never thought I'd have to do this, let's put it that way," Adams said. "Nobody should have to bury their own child."

Adams' son Michael was killed Sept. 9, hit by a vehicle as he walked northbound on Route 15 in Jefferson.  The driver of the vehicle did not stop.  

Tom hangs posters because it helps him feel like he's doing something. 

Over time, the agony of losing a son has turned to something else.  "Now I'm angry," he says.  "Now it's over five weeks later. The guy definitely knew he hit something.  Like I said, my son was 230 pounds, a solid kid."

Michael, 24, was a busy guy.  He worked two jobs, as a driver and as a cook.  He was an Army reservist who loved swimming and a local kid with a lot of friends. He was with some of them the night he died.

Morris County Prosecutors told Chasing News very little, only that there was an active ongoing investigation. 

They would not confirm rumors we'd heard about surveillance video being accumulated and studied. 

Tom Adams has put out a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver of the vehicle that hit his son.
