Raising money for abused dog

Liberty Humane Society is raising money to help pay for the medical expenses of a severely abused Jersey City dog.

Feather and her two puppies were rescued earlier this month while authorities were executing a search warrant for drugs at Farrakhan Williams' Jersey City home. Williams admitted to authorities that he punched the dog and locked her in the bathroom for "several days." He is charged with nine narcotics offenses as well as animal cruelty.

Irene Borngraeber, executive director of Liberty Humane Society, said Feather will have a long road of rehabilitation. "Her initial surgery cost $2,000. We anticipate another $2,000-$3,000 in cost for her because of her orthopedic needs," Borngraeber said.

The shelter has set up a fundraising campaign to help with the medical expenses. For more info visit LibertyHumaneSociety.org.
