Here is what you can and can not drink while watching your weight

- It turns out that alcohol can either give you a beer belly or help you uncover your abs. An Archives of Internal Medicine study shows that people who put back one or two drinks a day are less likely to gain weight! So what is the best booze to drink if you want to lose weight?

Rejoice, wine is good for you! Whether it is red or white wine, you can expect to consume roughly 100 to 120 calories per glass. So which grape should you pick? White wine contains fewer carbohydrates than red wine. However red wine is rich in antioxidants. And red wines ellagic acids delay the growth of fat cells while slowing the development of new ones.

Vermouth! Georgie Fear, R.D., Author of Lean Habits for Lifelong Weight Loss says that Vermouth is “a fortified wine with higher alcohol content and infused spices and herb. Vermouth is a calorie saver if you have it by itself”. Plus research out of Budapest shows that it’s packed with polyphenol compounds which promote healthy weight loss.

But the most alcohol for the fewest calories will always be straight up liquor. There isn’t much difference between 80 proof hard liquors, they all have about the same amount of carbs and calories. So take a shot and show off those abs!

Just remember to avoid heavy beers and sugary cocktails and to hit the gym! Oh yeah.. And drink responsibly!
