7-year-old soccer fan donates prized Christian Pulisic jersey to help Hurricane Maria victims

-

With Puerto Rico still recovering from Hurricane Maria, people are making all kinds of sacrifices to help. Recently, 7-year-old Alex Ibarra gave up his most prized possession to help those in need: his beloved soccer jersey signed by 19-year-old rising superstar Christian Pulisic.

Alex has 54 soccer jerseys, but this was his favorite -- and it was also the one he knew would raise the most money. So, he donated the jersey to be raffled, and it added to the $3,300 raised for the Hispanic Federation UNIDOS Disaster Relief Fund in the process.

Alex’s selflessness was instantly rewarded by none other than Pulisic himself, Who after having heard about what Alex did, sent him a video message. Pulisic said that he would be sending him a signed, game-worn jersey from the USMNT’s recent rout of Panama -- a game in which Pulisic had a goal and an assist. According to ESPN FC, Pulisic showed further support by promising to make a donation to Puerto Rico relief efforts.

Unfortunately, the United States lost to Trinidad and Tobago the next game, and failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 32 years. There’s no doubt, however, that Alex will wear his new jersey with pride and remember the day he inspired his hero.
