Do your kids know what to do in an emergency?

- It’s common for twins to do things together, but now you can add saving lives to the list. Two 8-year-old twins, Eli and Connor Fitzpatrick, helped save their grandfather when he was having a heart attack.

“My grandfather’s heart doesn’t feel good,” Eli told the dispatcher on the call.

Connor waited outside for the ambulance to arrive while Eli stayed on the phone with dispatch and kept a close eye on his grandpa.

“They did a great job of answering the questions and letting me know grampy's heart is hurting,” said dispatcher Brianna Volkmar.

Speaking to your children about how to use 911 is important and every second can count in an emergency. These twins had more than enough preparation as their mother has been a 911 dispatcher for 17 years.

“As soon as they could learn how to talk, we’ve been talking about 911 and what questions they would ask them,” said mother Kristen.

Connor and Eli were incredibly calm because they knew that help was on the way, and were able to answer the following questions:

-The address of the emergency

-The phone number from which they are calling

-The emergency

Grandpa is doing fine now. “They’re my two little heroes,” he said. His daughter cried in agreement, “I’m very proud of those two little boys.”

If children are prepared and know what to do, there is a greater chance of keeping calm like these two brave boys.
