How to answer ‘So, tell me about yourself' in your next job interview

It’s the one part of a job interview everyone dreads: the infamous “tell me about yourself?” question.

Experts say your response shows employers your maturity and authenticity-- so don’t gloss over this answer in your interview prep.

First, don’t recite your life history. Instead, tailor your response to highlight your experience and skills that are relevant to the job.

Kathryn Minshew, CEO and founder of the career development website The Muse, suggests structuring your answer with a present-past-future format. Start with your current job, then transition to your past experience. Finish your answer with where you want your career to go-- and how this job will help you achieve your goals.

Also, be sure to show your personality! This will help the interviewer see if you’re the right “cultural fit” for the company.

Lastly, relax! Be yourself and you’ll be sure to shine.
