Americans have two extra days to file their income taxes this year

Have you filed your taxes yet?

If you haven't you're not alone. But this year you have two extra days to file. Thanks to Washington DC!

The tax deadline is usually April 15th, but this year, that's a Sunday.

So normally, the deadline would be April the 16th.

And there's an official holiday that Monday.

It's Emancipation Day in Washington DC.

That means the IRS offices will be closed.

So, the deadline to file your taxes is now Tuesday, April 17th.

Of course, the sooner you file the sooner you get your refund, if you're due one.
