Maryland teacher charged with selling heroin on school grounds, Wicomico Co. Sheriff's Office says

A Maryland teacher has been arrested for selling heroin and pills on school property, according to authorities.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office said 51-year-old Monica Snee, of Salisbury, was taken into custody on Tuesday after an investigation was launched in October.

Detectives said their investigation revealed that Snee was selling heroin and prescription pills throughout Wicomico County, including on campus at Parkside High School in Salisbury where she worked as a teacher.

Snee was stopped after driving off school grounds on Tuesday and found to be in possession of 100 capsules containing heroin, hundreds of oxycodone pills and a small amount of suboxone strips, according to authorities.

Officials said they also found nearly $3,000 in cash and a supply of empty plastic baggies.

Snee was arrested and faces the following charges:

  • Possession of heroin
  • Possession of heroin with the intent to distribute
  • Possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone
  • Possession of oxycodone
  • Possession of oxycodone with the intent to distribute
  • Possession of oxycodone with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone
  • Possession of suboxone with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone

Snee’s bond was set at $50,000.

Wicomico County Public Schools said it was not made aware of the investigation until Tuesday and was cooperating with investigators.

District officials said they had no knowledge of any students being involved in the alleged drug deals or that any of the transactions were made inside Parkside High School.

According to the district, the alleged drug deals were believed to have taken place in a parking lot behind the school.
