Police: Man arrested after airline denied boarding

- Police say a man was taken into custody at Orlando International Airport on Thursday morning, due to disorderly conduct.

Jeffrey Epstein, 59, of Lakeland, was denied boarding privileges by American Airlines due to "erratic" behavior, police say.  When the airline called authorities to intervene, a verbal exchange between Epstein and the officers turned into a tussle on the ground, as they attempted to arrest Epstein.

"After leaving the line, Epstein continued to yell profanities and other remarks about American Airlines' business practices," read an arrest affidavit. "Epstein took off his backpack, put his hands in the air, and said to arrest him."

One officer said he observed "white froth" around Epstein’s lips and when he inquired about it, he said it prompted Epstein to become more agitated.

"His behavior at this point was causing disruption to the normal airport operations. Epstein refused and continued to yell and say to arrest him," the arrest report continues.  "At this point, Epstein was causing a scene and many people were stopping and videoing Epstein’s behavior."

Epstein was seen by medical staff at the airport, due to a complaint of chest pain and was transported to a hospital.

Officers said Epstein told them he had “created a very big disturbance, and I did it on purpose.”  While searching Epstein, officers said they located a bag of marijuana.

Epstein was released from the hospital and taken to the Orange County Jail for booking.  He is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, trespassing, disorderly conduct, and possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis.
