Millburn blanks Randolph, 4-0; will face Williamstown in Group 4 Baseball Championship Game

The Millburn varsity baseball team is headed to the Group 4 state finals.

The Millers defeated Randolph, 4-0, in the NJSIAA state Group 4 semifinals at Morristown-Beard on Wednesday, with starting pitcher Brian Lannino and closer Kevin Czapelski combining on the five-hit shutout.

Millburn (25-6) scored two runs in the third inning and two more in the fifth. Czapelski had two hits and an RBI and Max Jacobs and Max Birner also drove in runs for Millburn. Czapelski's RBI single in the third inning gave the Millers a 2-0 lead. Birner's RBI single made it 4-0.

"Their pitcher, Peter Huber, kept the fastball away from us and had an excellent change-up," said Millburn coach Brian Chapman. "We hit a lot of balls hard in the gaps even though we didn't get a lot of hits."
