Drunk driver smashes through fence, takes joy ride at Scottsdale airport

Officers with the Scottsdale Police Department are investigating after a drunk driver smashed through a gate at a Scottsdale airport.
Sgt. Ben Hoster says police were alerted to a driver in a white Honda Civic who had smashed through a gate at the Scottsdale airport around 5:45 p.m., Sunday.
Police learned that the driver was driving around on the airfield inside the airport grounds.
The driver then tried to leave the airport by smashing through a fence line, but the vehicle got stuck in the fence.
Police were then able to take the driver, 23-year-old Preston Scott Andrews, into custody.
Andrews was arrested for extreme D.U.I and felony criminal damage. However, the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are working with the FAA to determine if additional federal charges are warranted.
