Bartender sets record at Golden Gate Bridge with electric bicycle and his dog, Bixby

- A former chain-smoking bartender from Austin,Texas ended a record-setting cross-country bicycle journey on Sunday at the Golden Gate Bridge.

Mike Minnick, and his shelter dog, Bixby, began their trip in Palo Alto a year and two months ago. They have peddled 25,000 miles since then, setting a new record for the longest ride on an electric pedal-assist bike.
The trip was the result of what Minnick described as a "Burning Man Vision” -- to approach life as an adventure instead of a chore... and to quit smoking.

Minnick says it was also a way to introduce Bixby to people and encourage them to support their local animal shelter.
