ISIS video threatens Times Square

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - A propaganda video released Wednesday from ISIS reportedly threatens New York City's Times Square with a suicide bomber attack.  The video features re-purposed footage of a music video released in April which showed a suicide bomber getting ready to attack Times Square.  It also includes footage from the recent attack in Paris and French President Francois Hollande's comments following the attacks.

Before showing scenes of New York's Times Square, an ISIS militant is pictured saying that the attacks in Paris were just the beginning.  The video ends with a message on screen that reads "and what is to come will be worse and more bitter."

The NYPD issued a statement saying:  "We are aware of the newly-released ISIL video that mentions Times Square.  While some of the video footage is not new, the video reaffirms the message that New York City remains a top terrorist target.  While there is no current or specific threat to the City at this time, we will remain at a heightened state of vigilance and will continue to work with the FBI, the Joint Terrorism Task Force and the entire intelligence community to keep the City of New York safe.  In addition, we are continuing to deploy additional Critical Response Command (CRC)  teams throughout the City, out of an abundance of caution."

Mayor de Blasio also issued a statement on the video saying:  "Stoking fear is the goal of terrorist organizations, but New York City will not be intimidated...people should continue to go to work, live their lives, and enjoy the greatest city in the world."
