Animals rescued from Puerto Rico arrive in Georgia

The animals arrived at Gwinnett County Airport Thursday evening.

Shelters on the island sent the animals to make room for dogs and cats left behind when their owners fled the storm.

About half of the animals will be kept here in Atlanta.

The rest will go to shelters across the Southeast.

The shelters will give the animals a thorough check-up and then put them up for adoption.

Contact the Atlanta Humane Society if you'd like to adopt one of the dogs or cats.
