Boy scout continues work on Westfield bird sanctuary

For his Eagle Scout project, Boy Scout Kevin Law of Troop 72 told the Town Council last week that he hoped to continue the work of two other scouts to improve a Westfield bird sanctuary.

Located off of Grove Street, the sanctuary is both a habitat for birds and a place where people can go to enjoy nature, Law explained. He hoped to build and install bird houses and clean and create pathways with wood chips and mulch to enhance the beauty of the sanctuary and make it welcoming to all Westfield residents. Law said he planned to ask hardware stores and nurseries for materials.

With the help of other scouts and adults, work will probably begin in July and finish by October or November, Law said.
