Stabbing at Rutgers University

Three people were wounded in a stabbing at the Rutgers Business School in Piscataway, New Jersey, Friday afternoon, according to the university. A person is in custody.

Shortly after the stabbing, the campus police posted alerts on social media: "Avoid the area and/or take shelter."

"The incident involved two members of our campus community and a former student. The suspect was taken into custody, and all three individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries," Executive Vice President Antonio Calcado said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Please know that the safety and security of the Rutgers community is a paramount concern."

Rutgers believes a former student entered the business school building Friday afternoon and stabbed a current student and a faculty member with a knife. The victims then fled and at some point after that the former student cut or stabbed himself.

In an earlier email to Fox 5 News, Rutgers said: "There is no danger to the community. Three individuals, including the suspect are currently being treated for their injuries.
