A huge fire tore through a synagogue in New Brunswick, New Jersey on Friday afternoon.

Investigators say it is too early to determine how it started and if it was possibly intentionally set.

It broke out around 4:20 p.m. at Congregation Poile Zedek on Neilson St.

The fire reportedly started on the third floor.  It was still burning out of control at 5 p.m. but was finally put out at about 6:30 p.m.

No one was hurt in the fire.

The synagogue, dedicated in 1923, is a National Historic Landmark.

According to its website:  "Currently, about 100 families belong to the synagogue, which holds daily as well as Sabbath services. In recent years, new families as well as the recent influx of Russian immigrants have begun to revitalize the congregation. Students from Rutgers University, just a few blocks away, often join us for services."
