CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A congressional ethics panel is looking into the activities of U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews.

The New Jersey Democrat has reported using campaign money to pay for at least 18 trips to California, where his daughter has a fledgling career as a singer and actress.

The House Ethics Committee says it would issue a decision on Andrew's case by Aug. 31. It did not say exactly what was being investigated.

The committee says the matter was referred to it on April 2, days after The Associated Press found Andrews had used campaign money to go to California at least 18 times between 2007 and 2011.

In a statement to The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill ( ), which first reported the probe, Andrews called the claims against him false and politically motivated.
