MANALAPAN, N.J. (AP) — Authorities in New Jersey are searching for a man they believe was involved in the shooting of an off-duty New York police detective late Friday night in Manalapan.

Officials from the Monmouth County prosecutor's office tell the Asbury Park Press that police are looking to question Robert Dunbar of Staten Island in connection with the shooting.

First Assistant Prosecutor Richard Incremona tells the newspaper that the victim was treated and released from a local hospital after suffering a gunshot wound around 11:30 p.m. Friday at a Manalapan home.

Authorities have not released the NYPD officer's name and have not commented on why he was at the house in New Jersey.

A spokesman for the NYPD confirms the victim is assigned to the Brooklyn-based 63rd Precinct detective squad.
