CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a man fleeing from police crashed his motorcycle and died in northern New Jersey early Friday.
Police had received a call about two motorcycles being driven erratically on Route 46 near the Clifton and Little Falls border.
An officer spotted the bikes and turned on his lights to pull them over.
Sgt. Michael Bienkowski tells The Record newspaper (http://bit.ly/S11qq4 ) one bike stopped and the other, a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja, sped away.
Bienkowski says the officer found the motorcycle and the man had hit a concrete barrier. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
Police believe he couldn't negotiate the turn because he was going too fast.
The second motorcyclist was released.
