MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) — A jury has found a perennial New Jersey political candidate who proudly calls himself a pothead not guilty of marijuana possession.
Ed Forchion was acquitted Thursday in Burlington County of possession with the intent to distribute a pound a marijuana that police found in his trunk during an April 2010 traffic stop in New Jersey.
Forchion, who has unsuccessfully tried to legally change his name to NJWeedman.com, moved from Pemberton, N.J., to Los Angeles years ago to run a medical marijuana dispensary.
Forchion tells the Burlington County Times http://bit.ly/R3MmpQ he hopes Thursday's verdict leads to changes in the law for medical marijuana patients.
Forchion was convicted of marijuana possession in an earlier trial, but was retried on the more serious distribution charge after that jury couldn't reach a unanimous verdict.
