Lawmakers look into allocation for Rutgers

Posted: Updated:

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Rutgers President Robert Barchi and other higher education officials are expected to testify at a state Senate budget hearing.

The Rutgers budget may get some extra scrutiny at the hearing in Trenton on Monday.

Faculty on the Newark campus are complaining that their campus is allocated far less per student than the main New Brunswick-Piscataway campus. University officials say that's not true.

One lawmaker also says he wants to dock the flagship state university more than $2 million in protest of settlements with the basketball coach who was fired last month and two administrators who resigned.
