Indictment: School official didn't report assault

Posted: Updated:

FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) — The lawyer for a New Jersey school official accused of failing to report allegations that a teacher sexually assaulted a 4-year-old student calls the claims against his client "false and ridiculous."

Sandra Brower of Wall Township faces charges of official misconduct, obstruction and hindering apprehension in an indictment handed up Monday by a Monmouth County grand jury.

Brower's attorney, Edward Bertucio, told The Associated Press that he will seek "the earliest trial date possible" and said his client would be exonerated.

The 46-year-old Brower was serving as Wall's assistant school superintendent when the incidents allegedly occurred in 2009. She left in 2011 to become superintendent of the Lacey Township district.
