Police Dog-vs-Criminal - My9 New Jersey

Police Dog-vs-Criminal

Posted: Updated:
Somerset, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Imagine getting up to 5 years in jail and fines for threatening a dog. Well this may be the case if Governor Christie's Dano's Law gets passed.  The law is named after a police dog whose life was threatened by a criminal during his arrest. In 2008 while on a drug bust Dano and his Police Captain Pino were threatened by a man who's girlfriend was being arrested.  The man became so enraged with the drug sniffing dog that he would place phone calls to Captain Pino's home and threaten to kill the dog.

So, Kate met up with the courageous canine and his captain over at the Somerset Police Department to see how Dano and Captain Pino work together. He said that this law is about protecting all types of officers and he's hopeful it gets passed. If that's the case you could face 3rd degree charges which by law are indictable.  The chasers debate this law in the studio where some feel like it could be abused.

And fellow New Jersey Chaser, Hank Flynn, got the chance to live the dream and ride along with New Egypt Speedway Track Champion Billy Pauch. The veteran driver gave some very helpful advice and says all his students should follow the saying "go around slow and learn from the pro".
