Freedom Ride - My9 New Jersey

Freedom Ride

Posted: Updated:

Meg chased the story about a 9/11 freedom ride.  She was invited by Roy James, Princeton’s Deputy Fire Chief to join him and thousands of other firefighters and police officers as they road their motorcycles to pay respect at each of the 9/11 sites, riding from the Pennsylvania plane crash site, to the Pentagon and into New York City.

James says this is the idea behind an organization that provides fundraising for victims of 9/11 and their families.  This is his second year and last year they had over 2,000 motorcycles in attendance.

Meg hopped on the back of a chopper at 5am to hit the road and take the 3-day journey filled with emotion.  James described the warm welcome through the various towns he said that “roads are closed for us, as we are going by people are waiving and clapping and just very emotional, it’s an emotional time for everyone.”

Meg first met James to talk about the controversy over the Princeton 9/11 Memorial and using a beam engraved with a cross on it.  James hopes that this ride helps show how meaningful the cross is to that day specifically.

Back in the studio the chasers discuss this powerful event and debate over the controversy of the memorial and the battle over church and state.

Over a year ago Christie underwent a secret lap band surgery and you can't help but notice how Christie is looking a lot better physically, along with a healthy tan and new haircut.

Almost every male has asked themselves "should I have become a race car driver?" And fellow New Jersey Chaser, Hank Flynn, got the chance to live the dream and ride along with New Egypt Speedway Track Champion Billy Pauch. The veteran driver gave some very helpful advice and says all his students should follow the saying "go around slow and learn from the pro".
