Seaside Park Boardwalk Fire - My9 New Jersey

Seaside Park Boardwalk Fire

Posted: Updated:
Seaside Heights, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

A huge fire erupted on Seaside Park boardwalk Thursday leaving a pile of ash in its wake. Governor Christie called the blaze an “unthinkable situation” after the area had just got back on its feet after the destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy.

Block after block and business after business was affected in the fire. FEMA put $6 Million dollars total into the rebuilding of this boardwalk which was finally completed on June 22nd, making it less than three months old.

Residents and business owners of Seaside are completely distraught. They can’t believe that something like this can happen after the boardwalk was just rebuilt.

It looks like everyone on the boardwalk at the time that the fire erupted was able to get out safely. It is believed that the blaze started at Kohr’s Ice Cream Shop which was closed at the time.

Angelina Pivarnick from the Jersey Shore TV show chimed in on the fire saying, “I can’t believe it, I’m just in shock, I remember going there, now it’s gone. Hurricane Sandy, now this, I mean the boardwalk is taking a beating.”

With the devastation of this fire and hurricane season now upon us, will Seaside be able to catch a break?
