ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey says it remains on track to start offering Internet gambling by the end of November, although a final launch date has not yet been determined.

The state Division of Gaming Enforcement says it is on track to meet a state deadline of Nov. 26.

The division says casinos submitted additional information it requested by last Friday's deadline so that regulators can evaluate their applications to begin online betting. Nine of the city's 12 casinos have acknowledged lining up partners for Internet gambling, and a tenth is widely rumored to have selected a partner as well.

Online gambling is designed to give the struggling casinos new revenue, though some worry some of the in-person business will simply migrate to computers, leading to casino job losses.

Fish and wildlife officials are preparing to perform a necropsy to find out why a 30- to 35-foot whale was found dead in New York Harbor. A spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers said Tuesday that the whale was found a few days ago. It has been moved next to a barge so that it does not disrupt ships' navigation.
