A.J. Khubani founded TeleBrands Corporation on a “shoestring” with his life-savings of $20,000.

In 1983, Khubani graduated from Montclair State University and worked at his father’s importing business. Working there, Khubani started to experiment with different selling products through direct response print advertisements.

That same year, Khubani was hawking a $10 alternative version to the infamous Walkman radio and placed a $7,000 ad in the National Enquirer. Though he only broke even with the ad, this success fueled his curiosity to find more products. Khubani has always attributed his success to good products, “Just by writing and offering a good product at a good value, people were willing to send me money.” He said.

In 1987, AmberVision Sunglasses were introduced to the world as the company’s first television commercial hit the airwaves. Two years later, Herman’s Sporting Goods placed the eyewear on their shelves. This was TeleBrands first million dollar hit, and that same year they brought their direct TV marketing success to the retail world. In developing the packaging for the AmberVision, Telebrands created the world renowned “As Seen On TV” name and logo.

Telebrands’ aim is to design products that save consumers time and money by providing affordable, convenient solutions to everyday challenges. Throughout the years, Telebrands has been behind such successful products as PedEgg foot file, PediPaws pet nail trimmer, Stick Up Bulb, Olde Brooklyn Lantern, Pocket Hose, and Stone Wave.

TeleBrands’ products are now available in over 120 countries around the world. “You have to be creative. You have to motivate yourself, and you can’t get too comfortable.” Khubani has said of his company’s great success.

Khubani has been honored for many high achievements, and in 2010, he was inducted into the Free Enterprise Hall of Fame. Along with this, Khubani has also received the Montclair State Certificate of Appreciation and the Best Go-To Market Strategy Award. He is also a popular speaker and media personality. In May 2013, he was the keynote speaker at the NJ chapter of Entrepreneur’s Organization at the first annual Garden State Entrepreneur Excellence Awards.

This year, TeleBrands is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in business and is thriving as a nearly one billion dollar marketing giant. A.J. Khubani made the cover of Response magazine, which pays tribute to Telebrands’ 30 years in business. TeleBrands boasts that even after all these years, there’s still much more to come from them. “I think that I’m really at 30 years…I have finally figured out what I am doing…and I really enjoy it and I think I’m pretty good at it.” Khubani said, and this entrepreneur shows no signs of stopping.
