AMBER Alert canceled for missing child in Hudson Valley

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

New York State Police have CANCELED an AMBER Alert for a confirmed abduction of a child in Cortlandt, in the Hudson Valley. Police did not provide any further information.

The child: Avanta Perez, 5, Hispanic boy; short, brown hair and brown eyes; about 3 feet 8 inches and about 50 pounds; last seen wearing khaki pants and an aqua shirt; taken from

The suspect: Amanda Perez, 23, Hispanic woman; long, brown hair and brown eyes; about 5 feet 5 inches and about 135 pounds; last seen wearing black pants, red flowered shirt and a black sweater. She is "distraught and has threatened to harm the child and herself," police said.

The car: Gray 4-door Honda Civic sedan with New York license plate number DRT-8361; last seen traveling on Route 9, possible heading to Bear Mountain.

    Hurricane Cristobal is expected to move rapidly toward the north Atlantic, staying away from Bermuda and passing south of Nova Scotia. The hurricane's maximum sustained winds early Thursday are near 75 mph (120 kph) with no significant change in strength forecast over the next two days. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Cristobal is centered about 285 miles (460 kilometers) northwest of Bermuda and is moving northeast near 29 mph (46 kph).
