Landfill Smell Making People Sick

Posted: Updated:
Roxbury, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Odor from the Fenimore Landfill in Roxbury, New Jersey continues to affect local residents and now some of them are even getting sick from it.

The hydrogen-sulfide gas emissions from the landfill have been at an all-time high and residents are fed up. One mother even tweeted, “H2S from Fenimore landfill is awful this morning. My 3-year old and I woke up sick. Leaving town for the day. #HELP #NewJersey.”

The landfill was originally closed and then reopened by the DEP in order to be closed properly, but ever since the reopening, the landfill has been doing nothing but causing problems for people in the area.

Kids are forced to wear masks while playing outside or simply waiting for the school bus. Outdoor school activities are often canceled due to the smell. At times, some classrooms have to be relocated because it’s difficult to concentrate when the smell is so bad. Even the animals are refusing to go outside and now people are just down-right getting sick.

Residents just want answers and right now they are extremely frustrated with Governor Christie for not doing anything about it. During one of his “Ask the Governor” segments on 101.5 he was asked about what the state is going to do to solve the problem with the landfill and he basically dismissed the question and the fact that people are having health problems from these toxic gas emissions.

Over a year ago Christie underwent a secret lap band surgery and you can't help but notice how Christie is looking a lot better physically, along with a healthy tan and new haircut.

And fellow New Jersey Chaser, Hank Flynn, got the chance to live the dream and ride along with New Egypt Speedway Track Champion Billy Pauch. The veteran driver gave some very helpful advice and says all his students should follow the saying "go around slow and learn from the pro".
