Crews Begin Repairing Jersey Shore Boardwalk

Posted: Updated:

Crews began tearing apart what is left of a jersey shore boardwalk destroyed by a massive fire.

Seaside Park and Seaside Heights shelled out about $1.7 million to clean-up the debris and demolish whatever was left standing.

The work is expected to take about two months to complete.

Officials are blaming Hurricane sandy in part for the fire that ripped through last month.

Investigators linked the fire to electrical wiring and equipment compromised by Sandy floodwaters.

The flames broke out at the Kohr's Frozen Custard Stand and within fifteen minutes high winds helped spread the fire.

It took firefighters nearly nine hours to get the flames under control. The fire damage is estimated between five and ten million dollars.
