Accident Kills One UDel Student, Injures Another

NEWARK, Del. -

An accident early Friday claimed the life of one University of Delaware student and injured another.

Police say 19-year-old Ethan Connolly was struck by pickup truck and killed.

An 18-year-old trying to cross Route 896 with him was hurt.

It happened a few miles from campus shortly after midnight.

Investigators say the driver had a green light going through the intersection.

And the pedestrians were not crossing at a fully marked crosswalk.

Students woke up Friday morning to the tragic news.

Troopers are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident. They said it's too early to tell whether charges will be filed.

FOX 29's Leigh Scheps had more details Friday night in this live report from Newark.
