Habitat for Humanity puts up a home every 4 minutes

ATLANTA -

Habitat for Humanity is marking a major milestone this week in Atlanta. The non-profit organization is building its 800,000th home.

The international organization tapped its Atlanta chapter with the honor of raising the walls to the home. Volunteers came out Wednesday for the build despite the rain earlier in the morning.

The 37-year-old organization, which is dedicated to giving families a leg up on life by giving them a place of their own, says it is on track to build, repair or improve a million homes by the end of 2015.

They say Habitat for Humanity volunteers puts up a house somewhere in the world once every four minutes.
