NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has publicly stated he is definitely considering two men for police commissioner to replace Raymond Kelly.

One of them is Bill Bratton, who was police commissioner from 1994 to 1996 and the architect of the initial big drop in crime in New York City. He has since headed the Los Angeles Police Department. He worked with a monitor there, overseeing his department, just as he might have to here in January under new laws.

The second definite possibility is Chief of Department Philip Banks III, currently number three in the NYPD. He is the son a police officer and respected in the department.

Michael Palladino, the president of the union that represents detectives confirmed these two names. He said that whoever becomes the new commissioner will face a tough job as the department faces many challenges. Palladino added that 5,000 of the city's police officers will be eligible for retirement in January and that all officers haven't had a new contract for several years.

Other possible candidates for police commissioner include:

Those who have worked with de Blasio before said he will definitely choose a police commissioner who agrees with the mayor-elect's stop-and-frisk policy, probably someone along the line of his affirmative action beliefs and someone he personally gets along with.

Everyone hates long lines at security checkpoints and the TSA knows it. Now the TSA is sponsoring a contest to encourage anyone with new ideas about how to make the airport security lines go faster. Often for air travelers, the security checkpoint experience is the worst part of their trip. That's why the TSA turned to the crowdsourcing site Innocentive asking for ideas pledging a total of $15,000 in prize money, with at least one $5,000 award.
