ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - While he's identified only as John Doe in court papers, the man's treatment for a sexually transmitted disease was revealed by a nurse at an upstate New York medical facility to someone who knew his real name - his girlfriend, who was also the nurse's sister-in-law.

Now New York's top court is considering whether Guthrie Clinic Steuben in Corning may be liable for the 2010 violation of his privacy rights. The clinic fired both its president and the nurse within days.

A federal judge dismissed Doe's lawsuit, concluding the clinic wasn't liable for the nurse's actions outside her duties.

Now the Court of Appeals has been asked to clarify if every John Doe can sue medical corporations under state law for such unauthorized disclosures.

It's hearing arguments in the case Tuesday.

    Zoo feeds roadkill to animals

Roadkill is part of the menu when it's feeding time at a zoo in western New York. The Seneca Park Zoo has been feeding deer carcasses to its carnivores for years. The practice began after a zoo employee hit a deer on the way to work. The zoo gets the deer after they've been hit by vehicles on Rochester-area roadways. But it won't accept deer that have been dead for more than 10 hours. The zoo also accepts deer killed by bow hunters.

Burger chain Five Guys is testing the adage that everything tastes better with bacon. It is rolling out a customizable milkshake program and along with bananas, peanut butter, Oreo cookies, salted caramel, you can chose bacon.  Yes that's right: a bacon milkshake.
