Brutal Beating Caught On Tape

Posted: Updated:
New York, New York (My9NJ) -

A brutal beating of an off duty New York Police Sergeant was caught on tape and now people have questions about not only the punishment for the alleged attacker but also the bystanders, some of which cheered on the attack.

It’s alleged that this past weekend Hayden Holder got into an argument with Sgt. Mohammed Deen. During the altercation the officer got sucker punched and the attacker beat the unconscious man. Holder has been charged with attempted murder and assault.

In the video you can hear someone cheering on the attack. You can also see that although there are people around, nobody intervened.

Attorney Michael Coard discussed whether or not bystanders could also be charged for watching or even encouraging the attack. “The beating was brutal but there are no good-samaritan laws that require bystanders to act in defense of a stranger.

Hayden Holder is being held without bail and faces up to 25 years in prison. You can check out the full video on Chasing New Jersey’s Facebook page. Let us know if you would’ve stepped in and if you think those who didn’t should also face charges.

The town of Elmwood Park relies on about 75 to 100 volunteer firefighters for emergencies.  Russell Fenn, IV is one of those volunteer firefighters. He was driving the department’s only ladder truck and crashed it into utility poles.  Police charged Fenn with driving under the influence and said that his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
