2 Dead, 1 Hurt In Crash On Route 1 In Mercer County

A crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer in Mercer County killed two people and left another one in the hospital, police say.

The crash occurred just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday on the U.S. Route 1 ramp onto Interstate 295 North in Lawrence Township.

The right shoulder and entrance ramps were closed in that area until about 6:57 a.m.

FOX 29's Kacie McDonnell has a look at traffic, and Steve Keeley is reporting live from the scene this morning.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley says that the tractor trailer was stopped on the side of the road as the driver caught some sleep, a common practice among truck drivers driving long hours. The car with passengers rear-ended this tractor trailer.

Police say that the crash was so bad that they, at first, couldn't even identify what kind of car it was.

    SkyFOX was live over the scene on the 1500 of South Etting Street in South Philadelphia around 9:40 p.m. on Friday. Police say four people have been shot. According to authorities, a 3-year-old girl was shot, one time in the left side of her chest. She was transported to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and was pronounced dead.
