NJ Senators Fast For Immigration Reform - My9 New Jersey

NJ Senators Fast For Immigration Reform

Posted: Updated:
Washington, D.C. (My9NJ) - Both New Jersey senators, Cory Booker and Robert Menendez, were in Washington D.C. yesterday supporting a group that is rallying for immigration reform.

The group is camping out and fasting at a mall in the nation’s capital and both New Jersey senators have agreed to join the 24-hour fast themselves in support of change.

Some say that their decision to get involved and fast is more of a political stunt than a real attempt at making a difference but it seems they are now calling on the public to put more pressure on elected officials surrounding the pending legislation.

Both senators have voiced their discontent with the pending bill surrounding immigration reform because they feel like the bill will in fact pass if it could just get to a vote.

“If you look at the history, worker’s rights, voter rights, civil rights so often it comes from the organization and activism of people in the grassroots and you got to have that and often you’ll see people in Congress respond and react and so that’s what I meant. The great social change in our country is often seen from the activism of individuals,” Booker said.

Basically, the senators feel like in order to get things done it’s often the voting public that can put more pressure on their colleagues then the elected officials themselves.

StubHub, which is a website that provides services for buyers and sellers for tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other live entertainment events, has been hacked. StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
