WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - West Haven police say local residents fought back against two suspects during a home invasion, subduing one of them and stabbing the other.

Police say one of the two men was armed with a handgun when they broke into the Myrtle Avenue home at about 1:30 a.m.

Authorities say a resident of the home subdued one suspect and held him down until police arrived, and a woman in the house stabbed the other man multiple times in his head and neck. The injured suspect fled and hasn't been found.

Police identified the suspect found subdued in the home as Roderick Lewis, and he was arrested. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.

Officers are searching for the other suspect by using a police dog and checking area hospitals.
