Justice 4 Brenda - My9 New Jersey

Justice 4 Brenda

Posted: Updated:
Franklin Park, New Jersey (My9NJ) - It's been 18 years since Brenda Wolf was shot dead at the Franklin Park jewelry store she owned with her husband. To this day, Brenda's sister Laura Trueman, believes her sister was murdered by her own husband, Jeffrey Wolf.

“I’ve never given up hope that someone will re-open my sister’s murder case. I believe her husband Jeffrey Wolf murdered her,” Trueman said.

Jeffrey was never charged with killing his wife, but three other men went to jail for the alleged robbery and murder. In Jeffrey's initial statement to police, he said an armed robber, Marqis Kennon from Kansas City, entered the store and immediately shot Brenda in the head.

But the bullet in Brenda’s head wound up being from Jeffrey's own gun. Laura says Jeffrey owned a collection of guns and was described as “a perfect shot”.

Jeffrey wound up changing his story on the stand, saying he may have shot Brenda in the head by accident during a struggle with Kennon. Laura says that didn’t matter at the time, because the prosecutor, Nick Bissell, had announced Jeffrey was not a suspect early on.

Ironically, at that time Bissell was awaiting sentencing on 30 corruption charges and he wound up taking his own life before he was sentenced.

Laura Trueman has saved everything from the initial police report to almost every article ever written on the murder. She is not the only one who believes Jeffrey Wolf could have been a major suspect and that he could have easily made a deal with the corrupt prosecutor.

Ed Hesketh is a defense attorney who represented Marqis Kennon at a probation hearing in March of this year and he also has his suspicions. "Once reviewing the discovery and getting into the case I think an avenue of investigation would have been to continue along looking at Mr. Wolf as to him buying stolen jewelry, him being involved with some nefarious characters, but that ended when Mr. Bissell put the shutdown on it and said that was it, it was over,” Hesketh said.

Jersey native and Academy Award winning filmmaker Alan Swyer said that this is one of those cases that people in New Jersey will never forget and he has personally been following the case for years. He hopes to one day turn this story into a hollywood movie, but right now he says all he’s waiting for is an ending.

“To see the machinations of the perfect crime and then to see justice would be an incredible ride for the viewer. Also, Laura’s role as a heroine and her fight to get justice is what’s kept this story alive,” Swyer said.

Today, the Franklin Park jewelry store where the murder went down is vacant and Jeffrey Wolf lives and runs a new jewelry store in Amherst, NH.

Laura Trueman is asking people in New Jersey to visit the website justice4brenda.com to learn about the facts of the case and decide for themselves.

StubHub, which is a website that provides services for buyers and sellers for tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other live entertainment events, has been hacked. StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
