Where The Plow Meets The Road

Posted: Updated:
Montvale, New Jersey (My9NJ) - The snow that touched down on Friday remained an ongoing project throughout the weekend for many public works employees and plowing companies.

Frank Staropolo with Xtreme Snow Pro has been working straight through since Thursday afternoon barely getting any sleep in order to make sure that the roads are clear and people can get out and about safely.

“The mind goes crazy at 3:00 in the morning, but I turn the radio up, open a window, grab a cup of coffee and keep going,” he said.

For this storm alone, Staropolo worked five separate properties even rotating so that he can go back and plow them more than once until the snow stopped falling. He says that the trick is to drive the truck with one hand while working the plow remote with the other.

Staropolo has been plowing since he was 17 years old and he seems to have it down to a science.

“Whether you want to scoop the plow or open it back up its just second nature now,” he said.

The knockout game where young people randomly punch innocent bystanders to see if they can knock them unconscious has been relatively rare in New Jersey, until now. After three attacks in less than half an hour in a safe Hackensack neighborhood, some residents are concerned that this trend will pose potential problems for more New Jerseyans. Hackensack police are looking for a man caught on surveillance video who is suspected of the three separate assaults.
