Fort Lee Residents React To Bridgegate

Posted: Updated:
Fort Lee, New Jersey (My9NJ) - As more and more documents are uncovered surrounding bridgegate, more information is becoming available to the public.

One interested thing noted in the documents is the amount of people in Fort Lee who made formal complaints about the lane closures and the traffic that backed up commuters for hours. In fact, there were dozens of local residents who called the police department, mayor’s office and even the Port Authority to complain about the traffic.

Doctor Hicham Alnachawati is one of the people who complained about the bumper to bumper traffic that occurred in front of his home at the time of the closures.

“It is frustration to come here. I bought this house, I paid a fortune on it to be close to the bridge, now you want to close it after all the taxes I’m paying,” he said.

Alnachawati said that he used to be a fan of Governor Christie, but he feels that he definitely knew about the closures and as a result he has changed his mind about him.

“I don’t like him anymore. I don’t think he should be leading New Jersey anymore,” he said.

Another small business owner in the area, Joseph Cubias, says that he doesn’t get all the negative hype surrounding the governor now.

“It actually has not affected my opinion of Governor Christie. I think he’s doing a great job in office, I’m very happy to have him as governor. I am impressed with how quickly he jumped into action with attempting to rectify the matter,” he said.

StubHub, which is a website that provides services for buyers and sellers for tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other live entertainment events, has been hacked. StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
