Can Christie Survive The Scandals?

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Earlier this week Chris Christie was sworn into his second term as Governor of New Jersey. It was a day for him to celebrate and without conflict, but unfortunately 24 hours later the bridgegate controversy popped up again.

The media is running around with speculation that Bridget Anne Kelly, who has taken most of heat for bridgegate, may be willing to talk and possibly even turn on the governor. This speculation comes after her Christie connected attorney, Walter Timpone, has chosen to no longer represent her, siting conflict of interest.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred Tecce chimed in to discuss if in fact, this conflict of interest claim is really just an excuse and Christie may have knew what was going on all along.

“Representing or siting a conflict of interest claim could mean a thousand different things. Could it mean that she said something that he doesn’t want to be involved with because his allegiance is to the governor? Yes, it could mean that, but does it mean that? No. It could be 25 different things, 24 of which are completely benign,” he said.

Not only did Tecce explain that he’s not buying the conflict of interest story manufactured by the media, but he also said that he’d be shocked if anyone goes to jail over Bridgegate.

“Christie was a lead federal prosecutor of New Jersey. He understands electronic evidence. He knows before he goes out and starts shooting his mouth off, he’s smart enough to make sure that there’s no smoking gun out there that’s gonna absolutely explode in his face,” Tecce said.

Contrary to what many media outlets are speculating, legal and political experts still say that there’s no direct connection to Governor Christie.

Jersey Joe Piscopo joined the discussion to talk about what the people on his radio show have been saying.

“He had humility and addressed it right off the bat. The way he had that two-hour press conference, ya know nobody does it better than Christie,” he said.

Piscopo went on to discuss the latest alleged scandal plaguing the Christie administration, the back and forth with Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer over Sandy relief funds.

“My feeling is she got a promise from the Clinton’s to work in the state department when Hillary gets elected, that’s what that is all about, that’s how deep it goes, that’s how orchestrated this is in my mind…I think there is an agenda, I think she got promises, I think there’s some back room deals with the Dems going after Chris Christie,” he said.

Last week President Obama signed into law the Sean David Goldman Act which authorizes the State Department to take forceful measures against a country that doesn't help to return an American child held there. Oftentimes, these cases of international child abduction occur when parents are divorced and one parent is holding a child or children from the other parent in a different country. Sadly, that is the case for Plainsboro woman Bindu Philips.

Leisure Village is a quiet adult community in Lakewood, New Jersey. It's the last place that you would expect to see a swastika carved in front of someone's home, but sadly Fred Blumberg and his partner said that is exactly what happened to them. Blumberg explained that as an older gay couple they've dealt with harassment for years.
