Crusader Against Child Abuse - My9 New Jersey

Crusader Against Child Abuse

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Rose Morrisroe is a school teacher from Orange, New Jersey and the author of the book, No Secrets Between Us. Morrisroe wrote the book because she remembers feeling hopeless at just four-years old after being abused at the hands of a family member.

“I remember thinking when I was that young that there were no resources or anybody out there that can help me. I was alone and by myself, so I thought,” she said.

Morrisroe realized there were still no resources available to help children in abusive cases, so in hopes of helping those who may sadly share in her same experience, she conducted a pilot program in her classroom and began writing No Secrets Between Us.

“I think it’s a valuable resource for parents, educators and alike,” said Morrisroe.

As she recalls her life changing experience, Morrisroe conveys a message and offers resources to help parents and fellow educators in case they have any concerns that a child is being abused.

“90% of child abuse victims know their perpetrator. We’re the first line of defense as teachers and educators. We need to know the signs and prevention and intervention to help our babies,” she said.

Some residents of West New York, New Jersey are happy with their beautiful views of Manhattan, but aren’t too happy about the noise that is coming over from the city. Residents who live at the Hudson Club apartment complex at Port Imperial say that the music that reportedly comes from a new concert hall at Pier 97 across the Hudson River in New York City is affecting their quality of life.
