NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Two men are under arrest after the posh Cartier store in Midtown Manhattan was victimized in a brazen mid-day smash-and-grab robbery.

The NYPD says it happened at the 5th Avenue store on Thursday at around 12:30 p.m.

Five masked men walked into the store, smashed a glass case with hammers, and stole approximately 16 watches before hurrying back out of the store.  The NYPD estimates the stolen watches to be worth around $700,000.

NYPD Police Commissioner William Bratton says two men were arrested and some of the property has been recovered.  The search continues for the other three suspects.  No one was hurt in the incident.

Investigators have been reviewing security video taken from the store and neighborhood.
