Middletown, New Jersey (My9NJ) - A local New Jersey football star will be doing big things in the big game this weekend. Knowshon Moreno, former Middletown, New Jersey resident was a state championship football player at Middletown High School South where he broke many records before moving on to the University of Georgia and continuing his career as a starting running back for the Denver Broncos.

Former high school running back coach, Joe Trezza, commemorates Moreno’s compassion and hard work he has for the game.

“He knows that he’s going to outwork everybody. He knows he’s going to go in there and compete. And if he gives his best ya know, things are going to work out for him and it did,” he said.

Moreno will line up as tailback for the Denver Broncos in battling the Seattle Seahawks this weekend and his former coaches and teammates couldn’t be happier for him.

“It couldn’t have happened to a better guy,” Coach Trezza said.

In addition, Trezza conveyed a message from home congratulating Moreno for his feats.

“Congratulations and just enjoy it. You’ve worked so hard for this and we’re all proud of you and have some fun,” he said.

At NFL Media Day Moreno talked about playing the biggest game of his career right here in his home state.

“I’m happy to be playing on the world’s biggest stage, right in my own backyard and after all there’s no better place than New Jersey to learn your high school ball,” Morena explained.

Moreno’s high school team won the state championship three straight years and never lost a game. Although Moreno was successful in high school, he was an athlete who started out his career having periods of being homeless. After being drafted, Moreno blew out his knee and got demoted to the scout team. He may not have been an immediate success story but he did push through all these hardships with his positive attitude and determination.

Sadly, Jeter the pit bull puppy is missing. While dogs go missing all the time, there are two specific things that distinguish this story from others. First, several witnesses say Jeter didn't wonder off and that they saw Jeter get taken. Second, the community has rallied in a huge way to help find the loveable pup.

Empty spaces are popping up all over Atlantic City with the closing of three major casinos: Revel, Trump Plaza, and Showboat. Even with all of this going on, the city is still trying to use eminent domain to take away the home of an Atlantic City local legend, Piano Man Charlie Birnbaum. Birnbaum has tuned pianos for icons like: Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and John Legend. He's been a resident of Atlantic City in the same home for over 50 years.
