Getting Results For Family Surrounded By Dangerous Mold

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Imagine waking up every day to nothing but black spots on the wall, the furniture, even on your children's toys.

It's the frightening reality one local family was forced to live in.

The family says their landlord did nothing. Then, FOX 29's Jeff Cole got involved.

Once we started raising questions about the conditions Tiffany and her family were living under, the Philadelphia Housing Authority finally did something.

Tiffany tells us a team of workers, wearing full, head-to-toe protective clothing, came in and surveyed her home, taking pictures of the moldy, wet and sickening living conditions.

Now, after seeing what we witnessed up close, the PHA decided to move Tiffany and her children into a new apartment. She says they also agreed to pay for everything overtaken by the mold.

We've been reaching out to the PHA for two weeks. In an emailed response sent Thursday afternoon, hours before the story aired, the PHA says it simply doesn't have enough money to do all the repairs it needs to.

The agency says it's planning a five-year major renovation effort at Bartram Village.

Left unanswered is why it appears to have taken the PHA so long to relocate Tiffany and her family.

Watch Cole's complete video report above to see more details.
